S phase of interphase

What are the two identical copies of a chromosome joined at the centromere called?

Chromatids (or sister chromatids)

List the four stages of mitosis in order

Prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase

What happens to chromosomes during prophase?

They condense and become visible

What structure disappears in metaphase?

Nuclear envelope

What happens to sister chromatids in anaphase?

They separate and move to opposite poles

What reforms around chromosomes in telophase?

Nuclear envelopes

What is cytokinesis?

Division of the cell into two daughter cells
