What is a tree diagram used for in statistics?

To visualize probabilities of sequential events.

How do you start constructing a tree diagram?

Draw branches for each outcome of the first event.

What must the probabilities on each branch add up to?

They must add up to 1.

What is the multiplication rule in tree diagrams?

Multiply probabilities along a path for both events.

How do you find the probability of one event OR another?

Add the probabilities of the relevant paths.

How do you calculate the probability of an event?

P(Event) = Number of favorable outcomes / Total outcomes.

What is the probability both beads are black from two bags?

Multiply: P(Black from X) * P(Black from Y).

What should you check after constructing a tree diagram?

Ensure probabilities from the same point add to 1.

If P(Black) = 1/4, can it be greater than 1?

No, probabilities must be less than or equal to 1.

How do you calculate the probability of both beads same color?

Add probabilities of both black and both white.
