Definition of magnetism

Non-contact force between magnetic objects

What is a magnetic field?

Region where magnetic material experiences magnetic force

Examples of ferromagnetic materials

Iron, nickel, and cobalt

What are domains in ferromagnetic materials?

Regions where electrons' magnetic fields line up same direction

Magnetic poles rule

Always come in pairs (N and S), cannot be separated

Like magnetic poles behavior

Repel each other (N-N or S-S)

Unlike magnetic poles behavior

Attract each other (N-S)

Direction of magnetic field lines

Start at north pole, end at south pole

What is magnetic flux?

Number of magnetic field lines passing through a given area

What is retentivity?

Ability to retain magnetisation after external field removed
