Expressing a quadratic expression as a product of two linear factors

$ax^2 + bx + c = 0$

$a$, $b$, and $c$

Multiply to $c$, add/subtract to $b$

Set each bracket equal to zero

Coefficient $a$

Both signs are the same (++ or --)

Signs are different (+- or -+)

Expand brackets to check they give original equation

Rearrange into standard form $ax^2 + bx + c = 0$
