A way of showing relative sizes of two or more values

Using a colon $(:)$

To understand relationship between quantities

Fractions

Numbers in lowest terms, no common factors except $1$

Find GCF, divide both sides by GCF

$2:3$

$4:3$

First number is $1$, second is multiple of first

Second number is $1$, first is multiple of second

$1:1.75$

$2:1$

Multiply/divide one part, do same to all parts

Add parts, find 1 part value, multiply by each person's parts

$15$ pieces and $9$ pieces
