Seeds Overview
Seeds add texture, flavour, and nutritional value to various foods. Popular seeds available include:
- Sesame seeds
- Sunflower seeds
- Linseeds
- Pumpkin seeds
- Poppy seeds
Nutritional Benefits of Seeds
Seeds are a valuable part of the diet because:
- Good Protein Source: Some seeds, like sesame seeds, are an excellent source of LBV (Low Biological Value) protein, with sesame seeds containing 18% protein.
- Rich in Nutrients: Seeds are high in fibre, omega-3 fatty acids (good for heart health), and vitamin E (important for skin health and immunity).
Culinary Uses
- Adding to Dishes: Seeds can be sprinkled on salads, mixed into granola, or baked into breads.
