The letter that stands alone on one side of the equals sign
Changing a formula so a different letter becomes the subject
Remove square roots by squaring both sides
Remove fractions by multiplying every term by denominator
Multiply out brackets using algebraic rules
Collect subject terms on one side, others on the other
Combine like terms to form Ax=BAx = BAx=B, may need to factorise
Divide both sides by the coefficient AAA
Take square root of both sides, include ± sign
When taking square root at the end (step 7)
Factorise to take out the subject as common factor
