Velocity (Edexcel GCSE Physics Combined Science): Revision Notes
📚 Revision Notes
5.6.5 Velocity
infoNote
Velocity tells us the speed of an object in a given direction (vector quantity).
lightbulbExample
Example: 20m/s South.
infoNote
Calculation
- Velocity is calculated in the same way as speed, but the direction should also be stated.
- Determine the direction in which the object moves using a compass (NESW).
Velocity in Objects Moving in a Circle
infoNote
If an object moves at a constant speed in a circle, then its velocity is constantly changing even though its speed is constant. This also includes objects moving around a part of a circle, e.g., moving around a corner.
