3.7 Employment law
The government has put laws in place to protect workers from unfair treatment by employers.
- Discrimination: when one employee is treated dierently to another for no acceptable reason
- Right to a contract: employees have the right to a contract that will outline what the employer expects from them and a description of their role
- Holidays and hours of work: employees are entitled to at least 5.6 weeks of paid annual leave and at least one day off each week.
Equality Act 2010
The Equality Act 2010 prevents employees being unfairly treated in the workplace surrounding certain characteristics.
