EU Labelling Regulations for Eggs
Under EU law, egg cartons must display specific information to help consumers make informed choices. This includes:
- Packer/Seller Name and Address
- Egg Packaging Centre Code
- Number of Eggs in the carton
- Class or Quality of eggs
- Country of Origin
- Expiry or Best-Before Date (usually three weeks from the laying date)
- Size of Eggs: Extra-large (XL), Large (L), Medium (M), or Small (S)
- Farming Method
- Storage Instructions Additionally, each egg may be stamped with details like the farming method, country of origin, farm ID, and best-before date for quality assurance.
