EU Labelling Regulations for Eggs

Under EU law, egg cartons must display specific information to help consumers make informed choices. This includes:

• Packer/Seller Name and Address
• Egg Packaging Centre Code
• Number of Eggs in the carton
• Class or Quality of eggs
• Country of Origin
• Expiry or Best-Before Date (usually three weeks from the laying date)
• Size of Eggs: Extra-large (XL), Large (L), Medium (M), or Small (S)
• Farming Method
• Storage Instructions Additionally, each egg may be stamped with details like the farming method, country of origin, farm ID, and best-before date for quality assurance.
