Units for area measurements

Squared units: m2m^2, cm2cm^2, mm2mm^2

Perpendicular height

Height at 90°90° (right angle) to the base

Area formula: Rectangle

Area=b×hArea = b \times h

Area formula: Triangle

Area=b×h2Area = \frac{b \times h}{2}

Area formula: Parallelogram

Area=b×hArea = b \times h

Area formula: Trapezium

Area=(p+q)2×hArea = \frac{(p+q)}{2} \times h

Trapezium formula uses what?

Average of two parallel sides ×\times height

Area formula: Kite

Area=12×d1×d2Area = \frac{1}{2} \times d_1 \times d_2

Area formula: Circle

Area=π×r2Area = \pi \times r^2

Finding radius from diameter

r=d2r = \frac{d}{2} (radius = diameter ÷ 2)

Method for compound shapes

Split into simpler shapes, calculate each, add areas together

Surface area of 3D object

Sum of areas of all faces
