Input signal, process it, output response

The 4 main types of input devices are

Light, temperature, pressure sensors and switches

Component used in light sensors

Light Dependent Resistor (LDR)

LDR resistance in darkness

High resistance

LDR resistance in bright light

Low resistance (drops significantly)

Unit for electrical resistance

Ohms (Ω)

Component used in temperature sensors

Thermistors

Thermistor resistance when cold

High resistance

Thermistor resistance when hot

Low resistance (decreases)

Normally Open (NO) switch meaning

Circuit disconnected until activated

Normally Closed (NC) switch meaning

Circuit connected until triggered to break

Push to Make (PTM) switch operation

Normally open, closes when pressed

Push to Break (PTB) switch operation

Normally closed, breaks when pressed
